Meet Our President
Ian C. Mellor, PE, CE, Ian C. Mellor, P.E., S.E. is a licensed Civil Engineer and Structural Engineer with extensive experience in the evaluation and design of wood, steel, masonry, concrete, light gage steel and fiber reinforced polymer structures. His professional license is the highest California Licensure for structural engineering. Mellor Engineering San Diego focuses on structural and seismic consulting.
Ian Grew up on construction sites and always worked the trades which ingrained him with a deep understanding of how building components go together. Many of the buildings that Ian worked on were hundreds of years old. Ian studied architecture and discovered his calling in civil/structural engineering and has since worked on projects ranging from the design of government facilities to post earthquake disaster relief to forensic and insurance investigations.
Ian is skilled in forensic engineering for construction defect litigation claims, insurance claims, seismic evaluation and rehabilitation of existing buildings, evaluation of damage to structures from natural disasters and from man-made causes. His experience also includes project management and team collaboration. Ian is also skilled in designing repairs for damaged buildings and has deposition experience.
Some of Ian’s project experience includes mixed-use, retail, small and large custom homes, commercial construction, low to mid rise buildings, historic buildings, tenant improvements, public schools and DOD/NAVFAC design-build military support facilities.
